REFUND POLICY

All enrollments are subject to a three-business-day cooling-off period, commencing with the day an enrollment agreement with the applicant is signed or an initial deposit or payment toward tuition and fees of the institution is made, until midnight of the third business day following such date, during which time the contract may be rescinded and all monies paid refunded. A written statement of withdrawal received by George Wythe University or postmarked before midnight of the third business, shall be deemed as meeting the terms of the cooling-off period.

Any enrolled student who is dismissed or who withdraws from enrollment following the cooling-off period, within a ten-day review period after receipt of course materials, must submit a written statement of withdrawal, received by George Wythe University or postmarked within the review period. George Wythe University shall retain $200 of tuition and/or fees as a registration charge and refund the balance of the payment for the current academic period.

If a student withdraws or is dismissed after the ten day review period, the withdrawn or dismissed student shall be refunded, within thirty days of his/her discontinuing, a percentage of all tuition paid over and above a nonrefundable registration fee of $200. The balance due the student will be calculated using the following schedule:

DETAILS

Methodology: Upon course enrollment a syllabus is sent listing assignments, texts, and requirements. Most classes are structured around student readings and writing papers.
Residency: All distance students are required to fill a one-time campus experience; Bachelor students come for a one-week simulation, which can be at any point during their studies but is recommended during the second year; Master and Doctoral students come for the Oral Defense of their thesis or dissertation. Thomas Jefferson Degr students have a 21-day residency requirement which may be completed in seminars.

Thesis or Dissertation Already Written: Students may submit a book or manuscript which is already written as a proposed thesis or dissertation. The book will be reviewed by the Graduation Committee and may be accepted if the Committee deems that it meets or exceeds the necessary substantive and qualitative requirements. The Committee may require revisions. If the book is accepted, the student must defend it orally. The Committee reserves the right to reject the book as a thesis or dissertation.

Transcripts: Requests for GWU transcripts must be made in writing to the Registrar and may only be made by the individual student. The processing cost is $5 per transcript.

Privacy: Student records and information are private and will not be released without a written request signed by the student. If the student is a minor, the written request must also bear the signature of the student's parent/legal guardian.

Graduation Committee: The Graduation Committee is made up of faculty members who receive annual assignments that rotate among the faculty. This Committee has final say on graduation requirements, course outlines, and levels of study for undergraduate and graduate programs.

Job Placement: No formal job placement system is provided by George Wythe University.
