successful agricultural leadership in your community

Itinerary

Tuesday, August 19

  • 1:00 – 2:30pm, Session I – Presented by Oliver DeMille
    The History and Classics of Georgics: Why it matters in 2008 and beyond. The inseparable connection of freedom and Georgics, liberty and farming; from Homer, Hesiod and Virgil to the American Founding, Jefferson, and today. The surprising loss of Georgics since 1953, why it happened, and the coming impact on freedom. What Statesmen should know and what we can do about it.
     
  • 2:30 – 3:00pm, Session II – Presented by William DeMille
    The Community Sponsored Agriculture (CSA) Model for Georgic leadership: Benefits of the CSA. How to set it up and run it. The MiniAg CSA structure. Starting one in your community. The difference between the family garden and the CSA; benefits of each. How to use MiniAg for the family garden or CSA.
     
  • 3:00 – 4:00pm, Session III – Presented by Laura Bledsoe
    “My Experience with a CSA”
     
  • 4:15 – 5:30pm, Workshop – Facilitated by William DeMille
    MiniAg training. In-depth training in gardening. Challenges and solutions. How to set up a MiniAg system in your yard or home.

Wednesday, August 20

  • 8:00 – 12:00pm, Workshop – continued
     
  • 12:00 – 2:00pm, Lunch Break
     
  • 2:00 –4:00pm, Final training\Q & A. - Facilitated by William DeMille
    Discussion of MiniAg system. Develop your MiniAg plan for the year ahead, with timeline.
     

Registration
Registration for this event is $995 per person, or $1495 per couple. Families may register for $1495 per couple plus $495 for each additional dependant youth between the ages of 12 and 18. Space limited to ensure quality and optimal teaching ratio.

Participants cover their own travel, housing and meals.
