Andau Character Prize

This contest is only for the stout of heart.
Do you have the character needed to be a Statesman?...
Apply for this Prize and compete against some of the top youth in America!
A one-year full tuition scholarship to George Wythe University will be awarded to the winner(s) of the Andau Character Prize*. Only youth attending the World Leadership for the Young Statesman conference (Level 4) is eligible for the prize.
The criteria for selecting the winner are based on a three phase process:

Application and essay
Phase II
Character Watch
Phase III
Articulation
Do I have what it takes to Apply?
Those who apply should:
- have a basic working knowledge of U.S. History (17th century to present) and World History (Hammurabi to the Viet Nam War)
- have a basic working knowledge of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution (all principles, articles and amendments)
- have a basic working knowledge of Geography (all continents and countries)
- have a basic background in Literature (be familiar with at least twenty books)
- be articulate and be able to speak in front of others
- have a good work ethic
- be able to think on your feet
- be aware of world events (know what is going on in the world)
How Do I Apply?
The application process is simple:
- Submit your completed application with payment between March 1 and April 25, 2009*.
- Write and submit an essay not to exceed 1000 words relating to the following subject:
"The Next Ten Years"
- Send the application and essay to:

Restrictions for the Andau Character Prize
- The scholarship included in this Prize must be used by September 1, 2010.
- All applicants must be enrolled and attend the YFA Conference in which they are applying to be eligible.
- Applicants may only apply for the Prize once in a given year.
- Recipients may only receive this prize once in a life time.
- Recipients may not split or otherwise share this prize with another.
- Any and all compensations attached to this Prize may be changed without notice.
- GWC reserves the right to not award this Prize if applicants fail to meet the standards herein established and administered by the judging panel.
Applications will be accepted March 1 through April 25, 2009*.
